This trade came about because the original one I was trying to do didn’t go through.
I saw this ring (upper left corner) and for some reason the design really appealed to me:
My previous trades were for all practical things; I decided I wanted something ‘frivolous’ like this ring. I didn’t even care if it fit me or not.
I got in touch with the poster and asked what kind of books they were interested in. She wanted some American and Russian literature. But by the time I figured out what titles to suggest, it was too late—the ring was already pending for someone else.
However, in our discussion the poster wanted the books I’d offered, which were:
I was a little sad to part with the Moby Dick, but it’s a pretty common title so I’m sure I’ll pick up another copy at some point.
In exchange for the books, she traded me a bottle of red wine:
I like to think that Bulgakov and Hemingway would have approved of this trade!
