Trade 4: Monitor for 2 random books

I’ve never bothered to get a second monitor for my home computer setup, even though I’ve wanted to for a long time. It’s pure laziness, to my own detriment. One screen feels so constricting! I spend all my energy re-arranging windows.

I’ve looked occasionally on Craigslist but never found anything sufficiently cheap or suitable, or the location was too far, or whatever. I’ve got an ancient Mac and limited desk space, so purchasing a big new hi-resolution monitor was not an option.

Lo and behold, I saw this post:

The Bun who was offering it didn’t want anything as he just needed it out of his apartment to make space, but I insisted on giving him a few random books (even though he was trying to declutter), to make it a nominal trade. I chose these because he said he liked history and music.

He actually had the middle one already (Fargo Rock City) so the trade wound up just being for a book on the Black Plague, and another by a guy who read the Encyclopedia Britannica from A-Z.

The monitor didn’t come with a VGA cable (hey what do you want for basically free), plus my Mac has a mini-DVI port. So I couldn’t actually test to see if the monitor worked or not.

Which lead eventually to Trade #6... [But don’t skip Trade #5]
