Trade 30: Chili for books

Food is a recurring theme on Bunz. If you’re open to the idea of eating something made by a stranger who you just met on the internet an hour ago, then you can easily find yourself enjoying many delicious meals and snacks.

This trade started me down the path of trading for food. I’d previously traded for dinner, but those trades produced victuals from established restaurants. Fruit and vegetables don’t count either, lacking preparation.

When I saw this post I happened to be quite hungry. Since my previous exchanges had gone well, I felt adventurous and thought, ok, why not take up the offer.

I zipped over to Lansdowne immediately after concluding our discussion. It was the middle of winter—and almost the middle of the night.

It wasn’t a pure giveaway; I traded some of the many books I have lying around. I like to give something to Bunz who are giving away free stuff, because they’re the generous ones who most deserve something back, even as a gesture.

What did I get? A massive container of vegetarian chili.

It was delicious, and fed me for several days. And the trade was beneficial for more than just filling my belly—the container has subsequently proved useful.

What a memorable trade. It opened my eyes. Up to this point, I’d really thought of Bunz as being more about stuff—consumer goods and clothing.

Heather, thanks for introducing me to the fun and tasty world of Bunz Food!
