My overall lifestyle has been impacted by the following Bunz transaction. Because of it, I’ve become one of those insufferable guys who blend fruit and protein powder smoothies all the time.
For whatever neurotic reason, I’ve always been foolishly reluctant to spend money on a blender, so this offer of a free 12-speed Oster was nigh-irresistible.
The pickup almost didn’t happen—when I got there, the other Bun had some phone problems, and consequently they didn’t get timely notice that I’d arrived. It was the dead of winter and super chilly outside.
But I’m glad I waited around. After about a month of it sitting idle on my kitchen counter, I decided to give it a whirl and made a way-too-thick smoothie. Since then I’ve gotten better with the liquid-to-solid ratio.
I find the habit of making smoothies easier to repeat every day than regularly eating the same amount of fruit and vegetables. It’s been good.
The interior circular plastic base (that secures the bottom plug to the glass jug) is cracked and will eventually need replacement (this was the reason why the other Bun was giving the blender away for free), but in the meantime I’ve had several months of daily usage out of this appliance, and gained a new perspective on the food I consume.
Replacement bases are about $15. Perhaps I’ll just be able to trade for another one. [On a peculiar note, I’ve gotten sentimentally attached to this particular blender; I’m not sure how I’d feel about trading for a different blender model! It’s no Vitamix, but it does the job...]
Thanks Ben for your generosity. It’s worked out for me.
