Trade 36: Typewriter and Telephone loan for liquor and giftcard

Often, Bunz only need to borrow stuff for a short while. In this case vintage props were sought after:

Since I had both items, it was more convenient to do a single trade with me, so I lucked out and was selected.

I provided a classic black Bell rotary phone (which still works, incidentally):

It has a pleasant heft and solidity. And the bell rings as true and clarion-pure as the day it was manufactured.

I also provided a gorgeous Erika Modell M typewriter, manufactured by Seidel & Naumann of Dresden, Germany during the 1930s.

Look at those glass covered keys! 100% functional. I once wrote poetry-for-hire on it during Toronto’s inaugural Buskerfest, and also during the 1993 Lollapalooza concert (selection criteria was rather loose in those days, for both events).

The other Bun was exceedingly munificent considering this was only a loan, basically clearing out their leftover (unopened) New Year’s alcohol:

The $10 Indigo giftcard I immediately converted, into this lovely 2016 agenda featuring a Persian Safavid-style filigree pattern:

I’ve opined previously on giftcards. This one got thrown into the trade and I didn’t ask for it, so who am I to object?

As for what the telephone and typewriter were used for, it was as a prank for someone’s boss, to celebrate his birthday. They replaced his office equipment with my stuff, to imply he was getting on in years. Here’s what it looked like:

Haha! Success. And quite a lucrative haul for a simple loan, I must say.
